19 Worthwhile End of Year Reflection Questions for ANY Classroom-The last days and weeks of school are usually very chaotic, exhausting, and nerve-wracking, especially for teachers. Students are itching to do ANYTHING except work, and I get it. Who wants to work when summer is right around the corner calling your name? To get through the time from spring break to June, teachers will essentially try every trick in the book to continue learning in some way. So why not start with some end of year reflection questions and activities?

End of year reflection questions can be easily incorporated into morning meetings, do-now activities, classroom assignments, small group discussions, writing responses, etc.

So if you don’t want to waste a class period or two watching a movie or orchestrating a class party, try including some end of year reflection questions!

Why Include End of Year Reflection Questions?

Refection is defined by serious thought, meditation, and contemplation usually for the purpose of some sort of change, continuation, or posterity.

I love having time to reflect on my life and the choices I make. In fact, I don’t think I incorporate enough time for end of year reflections in my own life and career. From now on, I will!

1.  How would someone describe me at the start of the year? Describe internal and external characteristics.

2.  How have I changed physically, mentally, emotionally, and/or spiritually this year?

3.  What relationships have developed or changed this year? How?

4.  What is my favorite class? Why?

5.  What class did I struggle the most in and why?

Students can answer the questions in a Socratic Seminar, small groups, in pairs, or in a whole group discussion! They can also write, audio record, use video, create a presentation, etc. The sky is the limit just like the answers to the questions.

Self-reflection is the ultimate and worthy goal!
